Description

The Tulip Nebula / Sh2-101 in the Cygnus Star CloudAstronomer Stewart Sharpless (1923-2013) published a catalogue of 455 hydrogen nebulae in 1959. This one, Sh2-101 lies about 6,000 light-years from Earth.The image is the result of two nights of data using the monochrome camera fitted with narrowband filters. I processed the data using the SHO (Hubble palette) method, then tried an HSO rendering. I couldn’t decide which one I liked better, so I’m presenting both.
